"Every American president before Trump understood" - there are countless endings to this sentence.

I don't think you missed anything in your analysis. Reminds me a bit of firefighters who turn arsonists just so they can be heroes. And everybody clapping just feels like they want him in a good mood and out of there - either that or it's really pathetic, possibly both.

"And a Nigerian coastal community called Ayetoro — once known as the Happy City — is disappearing beneath the Atlantic."

Where the US should be putting our money instead of helping Israel destroy the Middle East.

"But I may have missed something. If you can think of one real achievement that came out of this war and this agreement, tell me here."

No. You missed nothing. Pence's word "appeasement" stays with me. Next up. Why 47 wants a crappy home builder to be election gatekeeper. Love the Stockholm image. Love donkey friendship and armadillo industry.

“Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, boasted on state television that Iran had achieved through negotiations what it had sought through military action “several times over” — gains he said were “not even comparable” to what war could have delivered.”

Many billions of dollars of taxpayer money spent, thousands of lives lost, global economic chaos, loss of world respect and much more.

That’s Trump’s ‘war on a whim’. Nothing close to a win or Iran’s unconditional surrender.

In addition he embarrassed America and himself in outrageous press remarks while Rubio stood by stone faced. And he farted.

In addition “The Iran file is not closed”.

And the reflecting pool is full of nasty green algae.

Excellent dissection of Trump’s folly.

This Iran deal is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Nothing good? In time, we will somehow be able to distill some soul of goodness out of even all this evil. The trees of Great Birnam wood are on their way to high Dunsinane hill, and Macbeth will soon face his Macduff.

The new public library branch in Chicago is welcome news. This country desperately needs more education.

It is appalling. It is a hairball. I’m with Luna!

A hairball! Lordy, ain’t that the truth! 😂

Thanks for the laugh. Perfect metaphor!

I'm sure he was the only one in the room who missed the significance of signing the

Memo of Understanding at the Palace of Versailles. He was, of course, flattered

that he was invited to be surrounded by so much elegance. All that gold! Every

physical and verbal move on his part sent the blaring message that this is an

old, mostly disoriented, cognitively addled, slumped over, shuffling man. For

the first time, I began to feel something - pity? sympathy? - because to see

another being in such terrible shape is difficult. Then I reminded myself who

THIS man is and has always been and the profound pain and damage he has

caused throughout his life. Your posts continue to educate, interest, inspire and

amuse me. Thank you.

I read Morning Compass 🧭 after watching the three hour long Obama Presidential Center opening on Chicago’s South side. It was an emotional experience that I will never forget. Turning to 🧭, which I love to read, left me wondering what planet I formerly lived on that was so markedly different from what you so clearly described in Compass 🧭. I simply cannot swallow or understand how one incompetent degenerate is capable of steering a country so far in the wrong direction from “HOPE” (the theme of the OPC). I’m distraught… But your posts give me hope, so I’m grateful to read anything you write‼️💚

Some of the repercussions of the stupidity, arrogance and ignorance of the Trump administration are on full display now. I am disgusted by the flagrant corruption of DJT and this administration, and appalled by the spineless posture of the Republicans in Congress.

The donkeys and armadillo.. ❤️

It's murky waters trying to keep track of fingers in the pie. The illegal president's constant shock-value behaviors, his handlers, and the truly devious group of billionaire power-mongers that are running what is now "business as usual" from behind closed doors, strategizing to transform the country to a veritable dystopia for the masses. Thiel, Miller and their ilk are utilizing the distractions of the shock-value club to quietly, ceaselessly carry out their own goals, and it's been working...the most frightening part of it all. It serves us to keep one eye on the fox in the henhouse, and the other on the four horsemen, so we can make choices in our own lives to work against what is, frankly, pure evil.

Reading about governor Newsom being against the tax increases to the very wealthy: on the one hand, I would like very much to see those tax increases to the very wealthy happen. On the other hand, it could mean more businesses eschewing CA for elsewhere, causing job loss. And it will keep lawyers wealthy helping their wealthy clients come up with more and more loopholes to keep that wealth. Ultimately, though, I think taking action about fair taxation is a step forward at this tipping point time.

Love the armadillo! Today we could nominate her/him for President and she/he might just beat the incumbent!

Excellent summary, Alexander.

It’s difficult to identify anything positive about the MOU Trump signed with Iran. The only thing I guess is that it stops fighting. The elephant in the room is what Israel is doing and the ceasefire is ignored by Israel (like the others) so it’s possible that Iran will respond.

It is a godawful mess mixed with genocide and nobody has any confidence that USA under the current leadership has either the will or the smarts to do anything meaningful about it.

The "Art of the Deal" reigns supreme. Iran has achieved in 3 months, the kind of power it has not seen in decades: Monetary power, military power in The Region, and the power to keep its enriched Uranium stockpile.

Standing behind Trump, Rubio and Lutnick looked like they were at a funeral. They were: witnessing the death of all credibility of this President to negotiate anything on the world stage.

The power Iran now holds is astronomical; the blundering ramblings of a weak and crumbling President is unprecedented: at one point muttering about the difference between marble and granite.

Trump has now given up power, wealth, security of the region/world, regime change and credibility to Iran. Like the green, algae filled reflecting pool, Trump has once again polluted his legacy. The juxtaposition of Obama's magnificent granite and glass monolith shining forth with hope over the Southside will stand the test of time.

A thorough and fact filled analysis. Thank you.
